Jason Mraz is an American singer-songwriter who first came to prominence in the San Diego coffee shop scene in 2000. In 2002, he released his debut studio album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which contained the hit single “The Remedy”.
Mraz was born Jason Thomas Mraz on June 23, 1977 in Mechanicsville, Virginia to June Tomes and Tom Mraz. He is of Czech and Slovak descent through his grandfather, who moved to the United States from Austria-Hungary in 1915. His parents divorced when he was a kid, but in spite of his broken family he had a comfortable childhood growing up in a safe and friendly neighborhood. He attended Lee Davis High School where he was a cheerleader. After graduation Mraz went to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, New York where he studied for a few months. He has been married to Christina Carano since October 25, 2015. He was previously married to Sheridan Edley Mraz.
