The Super Mario Bros. Movie is available on digital platforms from May 16th. Physical media will follow three weeks later.

Even though it's still cleaning up at the box office, Universal and Imagination's animated mega-blockbuster,

The Super Mario Bros Movie, is set to make its digital debut tomorrow. This is a surprising move as the film has already grossed $535 millions domestically, and another $674 in international (for a staggering $1.2 billion worldwide gross). It could bring in a lot of money at the box office. However, the release window between theatrical and streaming has gotten smaller and smaller, and other movies that opened after Super Mario (but did poorly at the box office), like Renfield and The Pope’s Exorcist, have already made their way to digital. The film will be exclusive to digital platforms until June 6th, when it makes its 4K Blu-ray, Blu-Ray and DVD debut. You can still expect Super Mario Bros. to continue making money, even though they’ll be available at home. The digital release of

Evil Dead rise last weekend didn’t stop it from having a strong showing this weekend. The audience is getting used to this new way of releasing movies, so it’s not surprising that the theatrical window for some blockbusters has been extended. For example, Top gun: Maverick

played in theaters for three full months before its digital release and the Blu-ray release followed three months later. Avatar: The Way of Water also played exclusively in theatres for three months before going to digital.Whatever the case, the Chris Pratt, Charlie Day and Anya Taylor-Joy voiced Nintendo adaptation has proven to be a juggernaut at the box office. It is already the fifth-highest-grossing animation film of all time. Comment below!
