Will Fast X’s box-office underwhelm? Box office forecasters believe it will be the lowest opening ever since the fourth movie.

This coming weekend,

FastX will be released, the tenth installment of the Fast Saga and the first part of a two- or three-part finale for this long-running franchise. Box office forecasters agree that the film will be the top grosser, pushing Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 down to second. However, the exact amount it will make is still a mystery. The franchise has seen a decline since Furious opened with $147 million. The Fate of the Furious was successful with a $98.7-million opening. This was a significant drop. However, many believe that the audience wanted to pay tribute the late Paul Walker, which is why F7 performed so well. F8 performed slightly better than Fast & Furious6 (97 million), and easily defeated Fast 5 (86 million). By contrast, F9

started with $70 million. This may seem like a big drop, but it’s important to remember that this movie was released at the height the pandemic. The summer of 2021 was a time when audiences were not going to the movies, but it still ended up as the fifth highest grossing film for the year. Vin Diesel addressed this when I was at CinemaCon last month. He said that people believed Fast and Furious 6 wouldn’t perform well. I remember that it was up against

The Hangover Part III and many people thought that the comedy sequel would beat it in the domestic market. It didn’t work out that way. The later film was a flop, while F6 was a huge hit. Will lightning strike again?BoxOffice Pro estimates the film’s opening at around $58 million. This would be disastrous for an expensive movie that cost $340 million. I think it will debut at the higher end of the spectrum, around $70m, given the huge turnout at the promo screenings and the amount the audience seems to enjoy the film. (As a fan of the franchise I was mixed). I think the overseas debut will be more significant, as F9 has flopped on the crucial China market. We’ll just have to wait and watch. It needs to make about a billion dollars worldwide to be judged a major success.Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 should continue to play well, with it likely heading to a $30 million gross, as it will be losing most of its premium screens. The Super Mario Bros. Movie

should be in third place, even though it is available digitally. It should make about $10 million. Predictions:Fast X – $70 million

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 – $30 millionThe Super Mario Bros. Movie – $10 millionBook Club: The Next Chapter – $3 millionEvil Dead Rise – $2 million

Do you think

  1. Fast X
  2. will open better or worse than I think? Let us know what you think in the comments!
