Insidious 5 isn’t out yet, but Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani will star in the next film, Threads: An Insidious Tale.
Update: It’s official. According to Deadline Mandy Moore will star in Threads An Insidious Story. They confirm that the project won’t be a continuation of the current Insidious series, but rather an offshoot taking place in the same universe.

Sony Pictures will be giving the fifth film in the Insidious franchise, Insidious: The Red Door, a theatrical release on July 7th, but with a month and a half to go until that movie reaches the big screen it looks like Sony is already working with Blumhouse Productions and James Wan’s Atomic Monster on another Insidious film. The information comes from Production Weekly and the website for casting director Nancy Nayor. Both reveal that a project titled Thread : An Insidious Story is in the works. A casting call for one of the characters even claims that Mandy Moore (This Is Us) and Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) have already been cast in the lead roles!
Since Sony hasn’t made any official announcements yet, we can’t say for sure that this movie is actually happening. But this is some eye-popping evidence.
Nayor’s office is looking for someone to take on the role of Zoe, the 7 to 11 year old daughter of Moore and Nanjiani’s characters. Zoe has been described as “the kind, radiant, delightful child who sings in the backseat all day, Zoe, is a joy.” She’s the daughter of Nick and Maddie. She is a cheerful bundle who loves to feed squirrels. Her parents risk everything to change the past and bring their family back together…“
The casting call also shares the following synopsis for Thread: An Insidious Tale: With the help of a mysterious stranger, a couple reeling from the loss of their daughter Zoe journeys into the terrifying realm known as the Further in a desperate attempt to change the past and save their family.
