Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie visited four Dead Reckoning screenings across North America to surprise audiences.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is surely packed with thrills, but attendees at recent screenings got their own pair of surprises in front of the big screen when star Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie appeared as special guests in four North American cities.

An accompanying video provided by Paramount Pictures shows Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie prepping their surprises at the Dead Reckoning screenings, going down hallways and stairwells – to which Cruise quips, “This is how they always take me into places” – before emerging from behind the screen to eruptive applause…Wait until they see the movie! You can read Chris Bumbray’s review of the movie here. Cruise and McQuarrie addressed the audience at one of their stops on the

Dead Recon trek from Toronto to Washington, Atlanta, Miami. “I want to thank all of you for coming. This is a very special moment for us, as we have longed to share the film with you. We wanted to stop and see you all. We think about you while we’re making this movie and it’s really beautiful…”Tom Cruise has been one of the biggest proponents of getting people into the movie theater, so undoubtedly he is touched by the turnout for

Dead Reckoning, which could near $100 million domestically in its opening. The moviegoing experience, and the production of “mass entertainment”, are so important to Cruise that you almost want to watch his movies on the big screens rather than waiting for VOD. Dark forces from Ethan’s past are closing in on him, and with the future of the world and the fate of humanity at stake, a deadly race across the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.”Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
