Denzel Washington’s Robert McCall is going to Italy, and he’s not going as a tourist, that’s for sure. As part of their CinemaCon presentation, Sony unveiled the first trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s much-anticipated third installment in The Equalizer series, The Equalizer 3. Notably, the film marks Denzel Washington’s reunion with former co-star Dakota Fanning, who memorably co-starred with him in the 2004 classic Man on Fire (which is now getting a Netflix TV adaptation).
In The Equalizer 3, McCall is retired in Italy and has made a surrogate family in a small village. McCall is a maniac when they are attacked by the Mafia. Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony, who has worked with Denzel Washington from his early films, said that he has never seen him strike a false note. Denzel Washington was on hand to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award by Antoine Fuqua. Fuqua has directed Denzel Washington many times, including
Training day. It was hard not to be blown away by the quality of Denzel’s movies. Denzel was in attendance and seemed to be genuinely honoured to accept the award. He told the exhibitors that without them, he would have been nothing. He then introduced Dakota Fanning as his assistant to help him with the new film. Fanning said, “Working with Denzel Washington twice is a dream. I don’t know how it feels to be able to do that once. All things considered,
The equalizer
