Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques, known simply as Sean Paul, is a Jamaican dancehall ragga hip hop recording artist, musician, producer and actor.
Sean Paul was born on January 9, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica as Sean Paul Henriques, to his parents, Garth and Frances, were both talented athletes, and his mother is a well-known painter. His paternal great-grandfather was a Sephardi Jew whose family immigrated from Portugal. His other ancestry is English, German, Afro-Jamaican, and Chinese.
Began scoring hit singles in Jamaica starting in 1996 and thereafter steadily began attracting international attention, eventual breaking into the pop mainstream in 2002 with Dutty Rock. Has become the most successful Jamaican artist of all time on the U.S. charts.
