Maika Monroe and Troy Kotsur have signed on to star in the thriller In Cold Light, to be directed by Maxime Giroux
Genre regular Maika Monroe – whose credits include The Guest, It Follows, Tau, Villains, The Stranger, Watcher, and the upcoming Nicolas Cage horror film Longlegs – and Troy Kotsur, who won an Oscar for his performance in the Best Picture winner CODA – have signed on to star in the thriller In Cold Light, which Deadline notes will mark the English-language debut of French-Canadian director Maxime Giroux (Felix and Meira). This will also be Kotsur’s first movie since he worked on CODA.
Scripted by by Patrick Whistler, In Cold Light has the following synopsis: Ava (Monroe) is trapped. It’s like a bull in the bucking chute seconds before exploding on to the rodeo stage. She is being hunted. She is being pursued, both by those who killed his brother and by her own demons. Ava must make a decision. The film is produced by Jean-Yves Roubin and Yanick Letourneau, with Mike MacMillan as the executive producer. XYZ Films executive produces and finances the film with investment funding from IPR.VC and with support from Telefilm Canada and SODEC. XYZ Films is handling the global rights and is currently presenting this project to potential distributers at the Cannes Film Festival.
