Haunted Mansion director Justin Simien says that the upcoming Disney movie leaves the door open for a sequel.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion movie will hit theaters later this month, and like Pirates of the Caribbean before it, the film could lead to a sequel.

While speaking to SFX Magazine, Haunted Mansion director Justin Simien said that the movie leaves the door open for a sequel. “It’s definitely in the realm of possibility,” Simien said. “I get my rock on with world-building so we set up a great deal that I think many other stories could be derived from and continued from. I don’t know, but there are definitely possibilities. The Haunted mansion at Disneyland is full of details that can be easily expanded on for a sequel.

Justin SIMIEN added that his film dives into the “lore of 99 haunts“, and other elements of this ride, but fleshes out them in new ways. Simien stated that the goal was to expand what we already know and what we could see in the story, but not to fill in every blank. “Certainly, Hatbox Ghost was a major one. We are using what is known, what has been rumored and have tried to flesh out his story. It’s really satisfying. But it also leaves the door open for a lot more.Related
