IDW and Dark Horse Comics are teaming up for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things crossover comic book
Last July, Playmates and Netflix joined forces to release a toy line that saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters pairing up with characters from the Stranger Things TV series. They had previously created a line of toys where Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- characters battled Cobra Kai. The idea of a Turtles and Stranger Things crossover must have really appealed to the folks at the IDW and Dark Horse comic book companies, because they have now teamed up to bring us a crossover comic book called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things! Issue #1 will reach comic book stores in July.
Written by Cameron Chittock and featuring art by Fero Pe, the four-issue crossover will bring Eleven, Max, Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas to New York in 1985 as they try to take a break from the insanity of their hometown, Hawkins. The kids will soon run into the Heroes in Half Shell. And the common threat that unites these characters is “both bizarre and familiar.”
Chittock provided the following statement to SuperHeroHype: “I’ve loved the Ninja Turtles for quite literally as long as I can remember, and part of the brilliant alchemy of Stranger Things is that, ever since that first binge, it’s felt like it’s always been there. Kevin Eastman’s, Peter Laird’s, and the Duffer Brothers’ stories are gripping and never let go. I can’t wait for fans to join us in 1985 to find out what’s lurking beneath New York.“
Pe added: “It feels incredible being the artist of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things. I can’t wait for fans to join us in 1985 to find out what’s lurking underneath New York.“Pe added: “It feels incredible to be the artist of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things. I wanted to create something unique for the art of this project. I was inspired by the era in which the Teenage Ninja Turtles first appeared and the setting used in the
Stranger things series. It’s a style close to the first Turtles
comics from Mirage. I hope that the fans of both worlds enjoy it very much!“Pe created the primary artwork for
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Stranger Things01001010 issue #1, and other covers were created by Jorge Corona, Jenn Woodall, Adam Gorham, Rafael Albuquerque, and Daniel Warren Johnson.
