Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor. He is best known for his roles as Kim Hyde in the Australian TV series Home and Away and as Thor in the Marvel Studios superhero films Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World and the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. He has also appeared in the science fiction action film Star Trek, the thriller adventure A Perfect Getaway, the horror comedy The Cabin in the Woods, the dark fantasy action film Snow White and the Huntsman, the war film Red Dawn and the biographical sports drama film Rush.
Chris was born on August 11, 1983 in Melbourne, Australia, to Leonie, a teacher of English, and Craig Hemsworth, a social services counselor. Chris saw quite a bit of the country in his youth, after his family moved to the Northern Territory before finally settling on Phillip Island, to the south of Melbourne. He is brother to actors Liam Hemsworth and Luke Hemsworth. His older brother Luke and younger brother Liam Hemsworth are also actors, and have also had recurring roles as on the Australian show Neighbours. Chris studied American English at Screenwise Film & TV School for Actors in Sydney, Australia.
