The digital version of God Is a Bullet is 156 minutes in the United States, but just 120 minutes in Canada
It took more than eighteen years for writer/director Nick Cassavetes to manage to get an adaptation of the Boston Teran novel God Is a Bullet (pick up a copy HERE) into production, but he stuck with the project, and his film received a wide theatrical release last month. It was released digitally a week ago. But now we’ve learned that there are actually two different versions of the film. You can find the full 156-minute cut of the movie in the digital version available in the United States. If you rent or buy the digital release from Canada, the movie is only 120 minutes long. The Blu-ray.com forum user alexroubaix compared the two versions and found that the Canadian version was missing subplots such as “January Jones abuse” or “land murder”. It’s also worth noting that while the 156 minute cut is unrated and is said to feature “extreme and graphic bloody violence”, the 120 minute cut earned a 14A rating in Canada for “coarse language and violence”.
Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Maika Monroe,
God Is a Bullet follows detective Bob Hightower (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who finds his ex-wife murdered and his daughter kidnapped by an insidious cult. Bob infiltrates a secretive cult and tries to save his daughter. Bob and Case, with the help of Case Hardin, the only female victim who escaped the cult (Maika Monroe), go down the rabbit-hole with The Ferryman in order to save his daughter. They also find closure for Case with the cult – and its maniacal leaders – that took so many things away from her. Kim H. Winther Santiago Garcia Galvan and Jim Steele co-produce. Executive producers are Sidney Kimmel and Chuck Pacheco. Paul Johansson and Natalie Perrotta are also executive producers. Union Patriot Capital Management, Mendelsohn’s company, handled the financing. XYZ Films is responsible for worldwide sales. Anne Jordan, ESQ and Ryan Webb from Greenberg and Glusker are part of the Patriot Pictures and Union Patriot Capital Management Team. Please leave a comment to let us know what you think. If you’ve already seen the film, tell us if it should have been cut down or lengthened (depending on which version you saw).
