Scott Pilgrim vs. The World did not manage to beat The Extendables, or Eat Pray Love, when they all opened on the same day in 2010 at the box office, but the offbeat comedy by Edgar Wright has gained a cult-like following since. Vegans, never fear! The first teaser for the anime adaptation, Scott Pilgrim takes Off has been released by Netflix. This series will have eight episodes and is set to premiere on the streaming service this fall. The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
“Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then, things get even worse. Based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley.“
Although Edgar Wright will not be heading up the show, he expresses his excitement to continue the property, “I knew that a live action sequel was unlikely, but I would usually defer by suggesting that perhaps an anime adaptation was an interesting way to go. Netflix contacted me one day to ask about the exact idea. Bryan Lee O’Malley, the brilliant creator of the series, had an idea which was more adventurous than a straight adaptation. Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, Adam Siegel, and Complete Fiction’s Nira Park, as well as Eunyoungchoi, of Science SARU, will also be executive producers. The project is being developed by Science SARU, an animation studio. The studio is known for
