Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One director Christopher McQuarrie teases that the franchise isn’t done with Angela Bassett.
Angela Bassett joined the Mission: Impossible franchise as CIA Director Erika Sloane in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Angela Bassett was originally scheduled to reprise her role in Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning part One but had to withdraw due to COVID-19 restrictions. Thankfully, the Mission: Impossible franchise isn’t done with Angela Bassett.
While speaking with Variety on the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One red carpet, director Christopher McQuarrie spilled a few details on how Angela Bassett would have fit into the new film, while also teasing that we’ll be seeing her again. McQuarrie stated, “It is interesting, she would have been the head of CIA and she would be in the room with the other heads of intelligence community you meet. It’s very interesting.” “And Angela Bassett is not finished. McQuarrie continued. “Angela Bassett is too fabulous. You can never, ever let Angela get away. There’s always a plan in the future.” Perhaps CIA Director Erika Sloane will return in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.
“In the official synopsis of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Part One Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), and his IMF Team embark on their most hazardous mission yet: to track down a terrifying weapon that threatens the entire humanity before it falls into wrong hands.“, reads the official summary. “With the future of the world and Ethan’s fate at stake, a deadly race across the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.“
In addition to Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One also features Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ila Faust, Hayley Atwell as Grace, Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis, Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge, Shea Whigham as Jasper Briggs, Frederick Schmidt as Zola Mitsopolis, and Esai Morales as the movie’s main villain. Pom Klementieff, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell, Greg Davis, and Marcin Dorocinski also appear.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will hit theaters on July 12th. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two is scheduled to be released on June 28th, 2024. You can check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray right here!
