Between the releases of Scream and Scream 2, we got another “whodunit” slasher movie from screenwriter Kevin Williamson. I Know What You DID LAST SUMMER is based on a novel (which wasn’t a slasher tale) by Lois Duncan. It’s not as clever as Williamson did with the Scream movies, but it is still a highly enjoyable teen horror film. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar play a group who cover up a hit-and-run one summer… but the next summer someone in a slicker with a hook appears to make them pay for what they did. is a blast to watch, a horror comedy that follows four characters as they attempt to survive the zombie apocalypse. Find some Twinkies. Jesse Eisenberg, who is often insufferable, gives one of his most tolerable performances in this movie. He also has a great chemistry with Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone. This movie is a great way to spend 88 minutes. It has a great sense of humor and some cool zombie moments. Midnight Mass – and it all started with Netflix releasing Hush. Kate Siegel stars in this simple, straightforward home invasion thriller. Siegel also wrote the script, which Flanagan used. Her attacker, John Gallagher Jr., uses her deafness to his advantage. Flanagan has several great entries on his filmography, and this 82 minute story of Heroine vs. Slasher in one secluded location ranks as one of his best.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc4eRYapdIUTHE CONJURING (2013)Not many great movies have come out of the “Conjuring Universe”, but the main Conjuring movies are leagues above most of the spin-offs that have been released over the years. The chemistry between Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga and James Wan as married paranormal investigators Ed & Lorraine Warren is what makes this one of the best haunted houses movies of the century. Their interactions alone would make The Conjuring worth watching, but then Wan surrounds them with masterfully crafted scenes of suspense and jump scares as they try to rid a family’s home of an evil spirit and dig into a back story of Satanism and witchcraft.

Some of my favorite films are zombie movies, but the sub-genre has gotten really played out in recent years. It’s hard to get excited about a new zombie movie when you see them on TV every week. The secret to success is to make sure the audience cares about the characters who have been dropped into the zombie apocalypse scenario, and that’s what Cho Il-hyung did with the South Korean film

#Alive. #Alive centers on gamer Oh Joon-woo (Yoo Ah-In) who is home alone in his family’s apartment when the zombie outbreak hits. Joon-woo, who is low on food and water and worried about his family’s safety, is about to give in – until he discovers that a young woman, played by Park Shin-hye, Kim Yoobin, has been trapped in the building next door. These are very likeable characters, and it’s fascinating to watch them struggle to survive with a horde of flesh-eating creatures waiting just outside their apartments.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLpq9wW6QaI

THE CALL (2013)

Session 9 director Brad Anderson crafted a really entertaining thriller with The Call, which is about a teenage girl named Casey (Abigail Breslin), who has been abducted by a serial killer and stuck in the trunk of his car. Casey is able to make a 911 call from the trunk and get in touch with Jordan (Halle Berry), a dispatcher who stays on the line with her during her ordeal to help her navigate the situation.
