This Bride vs Groom tale lacks any bite with middling violence, boring characters, and a directionless story.
PLOT: After bailing on her wedding, a former bride-to-be must fight off her ex-groom and seven angry killer groomsmen in order to survive the night.
REVIEW: I always love a good revenge story. Even a character called The Bride instantly brings to mind Uma Thurman’s yellow and black jumpsuit from Kill bill. I was expecting a movie with a lot personality when I watched Til death do us part. It was never going live up to Tarantino’s classic, but that’s fine. Few do. While the characters aren’t as strong as I would have liked, the film is elevated by a fun mystery. The answer to the question why this woman skipped her wedding is not what you might expect. It was because of this that I enjoyed it, despite all its flaws. They’re bland and forgettable, except for a few. Cam Gigandet had some funny moments that made me wonder why he wasn’t a groom. But he was dismissed in such a casual manner that it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It felt like a huge missed opportunity. Orlando Jones feels like he is going to have a larger role, but it’s cut short just when it’s becoming interesting. Pancho Moler is the only other Groomsmen that gets a lot of attention. He’s always a fun character when he appears in Rob Zombie movies. He’s fantastic here and I hoped for more characters like he.
The style relies heavily on the charismatic lead, and unfortunately Natalie Burn is bland. The script doesn’t do her any favors. She is a character that doesn’t develop beyond a singular focus. She’s not well developed, and there is little to connect with her. It’s because of this that her journey is a bit difficult to care about. The Bride doesn’t have any impressive fighting abilities, so her fights against these trained killers seem absurd. Jason Patric is absolutely fantastic in this scene. He has a number of monologues, and they are all worth watching. It’s great to see the actor shine so brightly in this film. I’ve always liked him, so it’s nice. He’s so good, I expected him to be more involved in the mystery. And there is an element that included him, he’s mostly ancillary to the main conflict.
Most of the kills are stabbings with a bit of blood. It takes a long time before we get anything more, but when they do they go hard. Let’s say that it involves a chainsaw, and they don’t hesitate. It’s a nice reward. The other option was

. It felt a bit rushed. Although I must give them credit for not adding CGI violence to every scene. The kills look good because they are realistic. The kills are so quick that I barely had time to process their death before the next one was on. Even the action beats before them feel very rehearsed, and lack in reality.Til death do us part has a fun concept but doesn’t come together at the end. The most interesting actors don’t have the most prominent roles, and those who do are boring. The film’s tone shift is not appropriate for the film before it. I can understand why the film was started as a lifetime film, but it doesn’t work. I enjoyed myself during most of the film, but I couldn’t help but see its full potential and feel a bit disappointed.
