Chrisopher Lloyd, who is now 84 (placing him in his mid-40s for the first Back to the Future), recently told Variety, “I would love to do a sequel, but I think Bob Zemeckis and [producer Steven] Spielberg felt that they told the story in the three episodes…But if somebody has a brilliant idea that would justify a fourth film it might happen.” Lloyd added that he thinks he and Michael J. Lloyd said that he and Michael J. Fox could easily slip back into their roles. He said, “There was a sense of ease between us…I did not have to struggle to reach this point with Michael.” There was no conflict. It just fit. It’s never stopped. Michael J. Fox is not interested in returning to the
Back To The Future series, despite Christopher Lloyd’s curiosity. Fox told Variety that he had essentially gotten the idea of a fourth film out of his head. I’m sure someone thought about it…But at that time, I was in the beginning stages of Parkinson’s so I’m not sure that I would have taken that on. There may have been discussions about it right after Part three did well, but I didn’t get involved. I don’t believe it needs a reboot because are you going clarify something? You’re going find a better story to tell? I doubt it.” And so, no, it doesn’t seem like we’ll ever get [Zemeckis]Back to the Future Part IV[Gale, co-writer and co-producer], meaning fans will have to be happy with the occasional cast reunion.Christopher Lloyd has reprised Brown numerous times, including for an episodic Back to the Future video game, a slot machine and two Universal Studios rides:
Back to the Future: The Ride and The Simpsons Ride, a cheeky cameo considering it actually replaced the beloved BTTF simulator.Should Christopher Lloyd try to get the DeLorean back on the road for another Back to the Future? Should he consider smaller reprises, such as a Super Bowl ad? Give us your take in the comments section below!
