Aquaman’s Lost Kingdom’s trailer was premiered at CinemaCon. It hinted at a reduced role for Amber Heard as Mera.
While this year’s CinemaCon was buzzing with rumors that not only is The Flash good but that it might be one of the best superhero movies ever – another anticipated DC movie made some waves: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. While it’s not getting buzz on the level of The Flash, and rumors have abounded about reshoots, the extent of Amber Heard’s role as Mera and more, co-DC Studios head Peter Safran seemed enthusiastic about the Aquaman sequel. We should not forget that the original Aquaman was one of DC’s highest-grossing movies. Director James Wan did not attend CinemaCon personally but sent a video message. He teased the movie’s bromance between Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry and Patrick Wilson as Orm. We watched the first trailer which revealed the story. Aquaman is now a new father who has to balance being a dad on land with being a king underwater. You may be wondering, who is the mother? Amber Heard’s Mera is most likely the mother, as she is only seen in the trailer in small, fleeting glimpses. Nicole Kidman’s Atlanna has a more prominent presence. I don’t know how important her role is but my theory is that she will die early in the movie. Her death would lead him to ask Wilson’s Orm to help when the real threat is revealed. I could be wrong.
This is Yahya Abdul-Mateen’s Black Manta who wields a Black Trident powered by evil energy that destroys the part of the world on land. Wilson looks like he has spent the time between films in the gym. He is shredded and he looks like he did. This looks like Tango and Cash for superhero films. I’m in. Comment below to let us know!
