As the next Spider-Man villain gets his own origin film, Aaron Taylor-Johnson teases fans with a threat to the web-head.

Sony dropped the trailer for Kraven the Hunter this past week. This marks the third Spider-Man villain that has received a solo movie treatment following the Venom movies and the internet darling Morbius. It was unclear how the villains would eventually meet the friendly neighborhood hero. Venom‘s Eddie Brock had been shown traveling through multiverses and ended up briefly in the MCU, only to leave behind a trace of the symbiote in a post-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Then, Morbius has the infamous mid-credits teaser where Michael Keaton’s Vulture, who also traveled through multiverses, approached Morbius with a proposal to team up.

With the release of Kraven the Hunter, many online reactions from web-head fans headlined the disappointing notion that this is another Spider-Man universe movie without Spider-Man. However, in an interesting turn of promotion, CBR.com reports that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the star of Kraven the Hunter, would post the trailer to his Instagram story with the caption, “Spider-Man…I’m coming for you.” Taylor-Johnson had teased this just as the trailer was released.

Additionally, in 2022, Taylor-Johnson was asked about the possibility of crossing over with Spider-Man (Tom Holland or otherwise). The Kraven actor responded cryptically, “That’s a really interesting question. There have been many comics that have this, so, you’d know? “So the possibilities are definitely available.” Tom Holland, MCU’s Spider-Man announced recently that he will be taking a break from his acting career after shooting The crowded Room and only returning as Spider-Man if a story really interests him. It stands to reason that these announcements are not alluding to anything, but one cannot overlook the possibility of it being a red herring for a secret cameo appearance.

Sony had announced an attempt to make a Sinister Six storyline ever since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. The end of the film would tease that the multiple villains are all rooted in Oscorp. Spiderman: No Way Home could have attempted a villain team up with the actors from the previous incarnations, but that franchise failed. However, with Venom, Morbius, Vulture, and now Kraven and Rhino being established, perhaps the kid from Queens will end up fighting the Sinister Six in an Endgame-esque finale.
