The casting rumors continue to fly as Marvel puts together the first in-universe Fantastic Four movie. Vanessa Kirby is among the names.
Although Marvel has made a fortune bringing their teams to life with the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy movies, two of their most popular teams have taken more time to realize in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to Fox owning the rights. Now that Disney has purchased Fox, it’s finally time for Marvel Studios to make the faithful adaptations for the two notable properties since the production company has effortlessly done so with their other characters in the past. The two properties are, of course, X-Men and Fantastic Four. Both have been adapted and re-adapted when 20th Century Fox held the rights.
Now that these teams are making like Spider-man and coming home, casting rumors are getting thrown around by fans in debates about which actors and actresses they want to see in these roles. Fantastic Four is one that people are ready to be rebooted after the dismal reception and returns on Josh Trank’s 2015 version, Fantastic 4. One name that has been considered for Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman, is Vanessa Kirby, known for her roles in Mission: Impossible and Hobbs & Shaw. ComicBook.com spoke with Kirby and Pom Klementieff as they promote Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part I.
Klementieff, who already exists in the MCU as Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy, excitedly responded when the interviewer inquired with Kirby about the rumor. “Oh, yes! I’ve heard about those rumors,” Klementieff would interject. Then, Kirby herself replied, “It would be an honor.” Klementieff enthusiastically pointed out, “We could work together!” Unfortunately, there was not much more spoken about the matter, and the rumors remain just that.
This comes on the heels of other possible news of who the director Matt Shakman may consider joining Marvel’s first family. One such source has said Marvel has approached Adam Driver for Reed Richards, Margot Robbie for Sue Storm, Paul Mescal for Johnny Storm and Antonio Banderas for the villain Galactus. “I love these characters. I love the chance that we have to bring them to the MCU and I really want to get it right and I know that everybody out there is really excited and feels passionate in the same way wanting to get it right. And so I encourage it. I think it’s great. But yeah, I have no early answers for anyone today about casting,” Shakman commented.
