The Robert Rodriguez action thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck, has received a digital release on all major platforms
Director Robert Rodriguez’s action thriller Hypnotic, which stars Ben Affleck (Air), has taken a bumpy road on its way out into the world. The film was delayed by the pandemic. It was shut down three times, was involved in an insurance suit, and its main financier, and distributor, collapsed during filming. The film spent two years in the post-production phase without a domestic distributor. The movie was released digitally on all major platforms earlier this month by Ketchup Entertainment. For example, Hypnotic can be viewed on Amazon at THIS LINK.
Scripted by Rodriguez (Machete) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Hypnotic sees Affleck taking on the role of a detective who finds himself spiralling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. A gifted psychic helps him to track down a lethal ghost who he believes is the key to finding her. But more rabbit holes await.
Affleck is joined in the cast by Alice Braga (I Am Legend), J.D. Pardo (Mayans MC), Hala Finley (We Can Be Heroes), Dayo Okeniyi (Shades of Blue), Jeff Fahey (Lost), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), and William Fichtner (Drive Angry).
Rodriguez has described Hypnotic as “a Hitchcock thriller on steroids… It’s that kind of a movie. There are a lot twists and turns. Very exciting. It’s my favorite story. It’s one of my favorite stories. I started writing it in 2002. So it’s one of the ones I’ve had the longest that I’ve been wanting to do.“
I haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet myself, but JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray gave the film a 7/10 review you can read HERE. Now that Hypnotic is available to watch at home, I’ll be checking it out very soon.
