Morfydd Clark, Eddie Marsan, and Sope Dirisu have signed on to star in Joe Marcantonio’s revenge thriller Uncle
Morfydd Clark of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Saint Maud has signed on to join Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky) and Sope Dirisu (His House) in the cast of the revenge thriller Uncle, Deadline reports.
Joe Marcantonio will be directing Uncle from a screenplay he crafted with Owynne Dawkins. The story is as follows: After a brutal murder, Millie (Dirisu), a barely teenage girl, and her uncle John (Marsan) embark on a violent mission of revenge and punishment. But as they get closer to the people responsible, Millie must decide if she is ready to follow the bloody path of vengeance… and its violent, premature journey into adulthood.
Details on the characters Clark and Marsan will be playing have not been revealed. We also don’t know who will be playing the Millie character, which sounds like it will be a great role for a young actor.
Rebecca Knapp and Matthew Wakeham are producing Uncle for Auroral Pictures, with Nicola Pearcey of Picnik Entertainment serving as executive producer. WestEnd is handling the worldwide distribution sales.
Uncle is expected to start filming in the UK this autumn. Marcantonio’s feature directorial debut was the 2020 horror film Kindred. This will be his second feature.
Clark had this to say about Uncle: “I’m thrilled to be working on a project so specific to rural Wales but with so much resonance with contemporary issues affecting people everywhere. The script gripped me and working with such talented filmmakers, cast and crew is a dream.” Clark has proven with her performance as Galadriel on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power that she can handle action – although some fans haven’t been pleased to see Galadriel turned into an action hero.
Marcantonio provided the following statement: “This really is a dream cast for me, with three of the most incredible actors around – I’m so excited for us all to get started and to bring this amazing story to life.“
