Hugh Dancy is an English actor and model. He is best known for his roles as Will Graham in the television series Hannibal for which he was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and as Prince Charmont in Ella Enchanted. In 2006, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his portrayal of Earl of Essex in the HBO miniseries Elizabeth I.
Dancy was born on June 19, 1975 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, UK as Hugh Michael Horace Dancy, to Sarah Ann, who works in academic publishing, and Jonathan Peter Dancy, a philosophy professor and writer. He was raised in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He has a brother, Jack, and a sister, Kate.
By the end of 1999, Dancy’s career had really begun to heat up with the title role in the Hallmark Hall of Fame mini-series David Copperfield; a part in the TV movie Madame Bovary; and a guest appearance on the TV series Relic Hunter.
